Dear Alie

I am sorry that I cannot answer your questions re Grandfather Lindo. I have forgotten the name of the boat they came out in also the year, but know its over 91 years ago as Aunt Emma was born out here.

Grandfathers ancestors have held the farm Grandfather was born on in Norfolk since 1616 he was youngest of 8 sons, he went to Yorkshire and lived there a few years before he left for Aus he married a Yorkshire Girl called Jane Wilson she also was a farmers daughter Grandfather was a bigoted old Englishman and very proud of being a descendant of the English Yeomanry, He was a great lover of draught horses, and a good breaker of colts used to delight in having outlaws given to him to quieten and he never failed to do so, The Hon John Lewis considered him the best judge of draught horses in his day, he was also considered a good Veterinary Surgeon. People for miles around used to send for him when their stock was sick he was also a champion plowman

When they came to Aus he took up land at Hay Valley, also had a cattle run about the Finnis. Went from Hay Valley to Mintaro and from there to the Burra Then when your Grandfather Moyle died he went to Jamestown and managed the farm until your Grandmother got married again

Soon after that he went blind and lived in Jamestown until he went to live with Auntie Bowles in Yongala where he died at the age of (I think about ) 98

I am writing to Aunt Emma and she will possibly remember the Boat and year they came out in and perhaps give a fuller a/c of his life. I know he went overland to The Victorian Gold Rush and got lost and the Blacks found him and brought him back to the camp, and dare say other things will come to my mind but just cant think of them when I want to. I hear a lot of the N. G. boys expect to get leave and be back here for Easter hope Eric is among them

Have not seen any of the holiday makers up to date. Win joins me in love and best wishes to you and yours trusting all OK .

Yours Affectionately

Jack (Lindo)
